We're a group of families who homeschool and come together to learn alongside each other. Parents lead the lessons and the children make friends, and everybody pitches in.

About us

The heart of Arnprior Homeschool-Ed was birthed from a growing desire among families to learn alongside one another, share their gifts, and build meaningful community.

In November 2024, three homeschooling moms came together to initiate a pilot co-op opportunity (Arnprior Homeschool Co-op) to see what interest there might be in families learning together. It quickly became apparent that families loved learning together, sharing their skills and expertise, and forming lasting friendships.

Since then, we have continued to cultivate and nurture the Arnprior Homeschool Co-op, bringing families together to learn, connect, and grow alongside one another.

In the Fall of 2026, Trailblazers Drop-Off was created specifically for older kids to learn alongside their peers, have some fun and laughter together, and to build friendships with one another.

Since our vision to support homeschooling families continues to grow, we have established Arnprior Homeschool-Ed as an umbrella for the Co-op and Trailblazers Drop-Off, while making room for the possibility of new opportunities.

Arnprior Homeschool-Ed is pleased to offer two unique opportunities for families.

Arnprior Homeschool Co-op

A parent-led cooperative, not a class you sign up for

Families share a love of learning, offer their own gifts and skills, and build friendships. One parent might lead a science lesson, another runs a craft for toddlers, others pitch in to keep the space clean and tidy. It works because we all take a turn.

This is an opportunity for families who homeschool to come together to learn alongside each other. Parents, and sometimes community guests, will lead the lessons, the children make friends, and everybody pitches in.

The ages for our Co-op are from birth to 14.

Not a drop-off program

Parent involvement runs the Co-op and supervises the children. Every family takes on a role: bring their skills and expertise in leading or assisting a lesson, supervising, helping with set up and cleanup.

Trailblazers Drop-Off

For kids aged 10 to 14

This is a program where kids ages 10 to 14 come together to learn, connect, and grow alongside their peers. Each week is a chance to build real friendships, try something new, and be challenged in a fun, supportive learning environment.

This option has become available because we have seen the need for more opportunities for these kids to connect, build friendships, and learn alongside one another. Moreover, we are often at capacity for families with younger aged children to enrol, which may limit opportunities for the older kids (The Trailblazers) who are in families with younger siblings.

What to bring

Indoor shoes, a nut-free snack and water

Food

This is a nut-free and watermelon-free program.

Children are grouped by the age they'll be on 31 December. If your child has a birthday during the fall, they move up now rather than halfway through.

Parking at the back, enter through the side door. There's a room for boots and coats, so bring indoor shoes. Some areas of the church are marked "do not enter" and are off limits.

How a Thursday goes

A day at co-op and the Trailblazers Drop-Off

10:00–10:15
Arrival
Park at the back, enter through the side door, change into indoor shoes, and meet in the café for 10:15.
10:15–11:00
Block A
Groups learning separately, some upstairs and some on the main level.
11:00–11:30
Snack break
Bring your own, and something to share if you like.
11:30–12:15
Block B
Second learning block, groups separate again.
12:15–1:00
Clean up and games room
Children use the games room that offers a variety of activities such as foosball tables, a hockey table, ride-on toys, board games, and more. We ask that at least two parents supervise during that time.

Some areas of the church are marked "do not enter" and are off limits.

Little Sprouts (ages 0–3): free alongside older siblings. Families attending with only Little Sprouts pay a single $35 fee.

An example

A family with three children aged 5, 8 and 11 pays $70. That's $35, $35, and then free.

Parents stay for the morning and take on a role.

A current RVHEA membership is required.

Trailblazers Drop-Off fees

What to know

Fees are $70 per student for the term.
A current RVHEA membership is required.
There is no parent-role expectation for drop-off families.
This is a 7-week commitment, and consistent attendance matters. Parent teachers plan their lessons expecting students to be there, and the group comes to count on one another.

And if parents would rather stay and take part, Trailblazer families with all their kids between the ages of 10 and 14 are always welcome in the co-op itself, on the regular fee schedule.

Paying

Pay by e-transfer to arnpriorhomeschoolcoop@gmail.com, or speak to us about paying cash.

Registration deadline is Friday 25 September. Fees are due on the same date.

Required to join

Every family needs a current RVHEA membership

That's a membership with the Rideau Valley Home Educator's Association. It carries the insurance the church requires. We can't have a family at co-op without one.

For 40 years, RVHEA has paved the way for homeschooling families in Ontario by way of advocating for freedom to homeschool, providing a vast base of homeschooling knowledge and experience, and much required insurance coverage.

Registration is also your agreement with the RVHEA Vision and the Statement of Faith. Please read them before completing your registration.

RVHEA offers an early bird rate if you sign up before 15 September, and discounts for families with all preschool children, so it's worth joining sooner rather than later.

Arnprior Homeschool-Ed is aligned with the faith-based values of RVHEA. Please take a moment to review them before registering.

After paying, email RVHEA to request your membership number. They don't send it automatically.
